Arrest made, investigation ongoing in Colorado Springs burglary

When a crime occurs, police often want to be able to show that progress is being made toward justice by making an arrest. However, justice is not served if an innocent person is accused of a crime. As such, there must be sufficient evidence to prove that a person charged with a crime is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for a conviction to be obtained. A man in Colorado Springs is now likely trying to determine how to respond, following his recent arrest in connection to a burglary.

The incident that led to the man's arrest reportedly happened on a day in early May. Reports indicate that someone broke into an office complex and stole "identity documents"; it is unclear if anything else was stolen. One person claims to have been a victim of identity theft.

A "months-long investigation" is said to have followed. Recently, officers searched a home, resulting in the arrest of a 38-year-old man. Police say that they discovered items from the burglary at the residence; reports do not detail whom the home belongs to or whom all may have had access to it.

Though reports indicate that the Colorado Springs incident remains under investigation, the man now faces charges of identity theft and burglary. Unfortunately, many people facing criminal charges feel uncertain about their options and lack confidence in their ability to make informed decisions. As such, many seek guidance from a defense attorney with experience with such cases. With such a person on their side, defendants may feel better prepared to respond to the challenges that they are facing.
